Old Fort Benton

Pioneers and travelers visiting Fort Benton in earlier times undoubtedly got caught in surprise  thunder showers from time to time. The Fort complex and city streets would have undoubtedly become  slick with gumbo in those days as folks scurried for cover.
Happily, last week's thunder and rain did not catch our concert sponsors, the River and Plains Society, by surprise! Though the Old Fort courtyard would have been fun in the sun...... it would not have been fun that night of steady deluge!
Our Old Fort concert was moved to the Ag Museum's reception space, just a few bison steps away from the Old Fort. The walls of that space glow with Brian Morger murals of Fort Benton pioneer life which made our collection of early American and Celtic heritage music come alive. Bruce "Burnt Spoon"- aka "The Mountain Man", from the Old Fort, joined us with fun harmonies and rhythm guitar on several songs. The audience joined in on Orange Blossom Special. Thanks to everyone who came and especially to the River and Plains Society for the invitation! It was a very special evening.
